hangover

hangover

n. the physiological effects experienced after cessation of heavy drinking, usually appearing within hours and lasting up to a day. Symptoms include malaise, thirst, headache, dizziness, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting. A hangover is different from alcohol withdrawal, particularly in the duration of alcohol use required for it to develop. —hung over adj.
